A computed tomography (CT) angiogram of the craniocervical vessels (fig. 1) demonstrated a metallic foreign body in the basilar artery. The next day, the patient’s neurological status deteriorated and a non-contrast head CT (fig. 2) demonstrated migration of the foreign body to the left posterior cerebral artery (PCA) territory.

Anatomic Situation of Posterior Superior Alveolar Artery in Cone-Beam Computed Tomography Images in Maxillary Molar Region
Introduction: Bleeding is an important complication during implant placement. The aim of this study was to evaluate the anatomic situation of the posterior superior alveolar artery (PSAA) in cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) images in maxillary molar region in an Iranian population. Methods: In this descriptive cross-sectional study, CBCT scans of the edentulous regions of the posterior max...
متن کاملUsefulness of Flat Detector CT Perfusion Images in the Diagnosis and Determination of the Therapeutic Strategy for Intracranial Vascular Occlusion as a Complication of Cerebral Angiography: Technical Note
Objective: Flat detector CT perfusion (FD-CTP) imaging is a new modality that permits rapid assessment of the state of perfusion in the angiography suite. We present a case in which FD-CTP was useful for the determination of the therapeutic strategy for embolism that occurred during angiography. Case Presentation: Cerebral angiography performed before surgery for brain tumor suggested left post...
متن کاملThe Clot Strikes Thrice: Case Report of a Patient with 3 Concurrent Embolic events.
PURPOSE Concurrent cerebral and systemic embolism are unusual occurrences. Acute myocardial infarction secondary to coronary embolism are particularly rare with only isolated reports in the literature. CASE REPORT A 49-year old Chinese man presented with right posterior cerebral artery infarction to our hospital. He developed chest pain and ST-elevation on ECG the next morning. Urgent cardiac...
متن کاملEvaluation of the confounding factors disturbing the quality of CT images of pulmonary angiography
Background: Since pulmonary angiography is the only non-invasive method for diagnosing pulmonary embolism, the use of radiation reduction methods without affecting the quality of images seems necessary. One of the simplest reasons for unnecessarily increasing of patient exposure is repetitive imaging due to poor image quality. Therefore, it is necessary to identify and ...
متن کاملEvidence for embolization from a posterior cerebral artery thrombus by transcranial Doppler monitoring.
BACKGROUND Transcranial Doppler monitoring enables the detection of emboli passing through intracranial arteries. Comparison of the different intracranial vessels with respect to emboli detection can be of use in identifying the source of embolism. CASE DESCRIPTION We report the case of a patient with an acute posterior cerebral artery (PCA) infarct on the right side, with evidence for high-d...
